Nostalgia and more.

Next up in the Fanzine journey is Cadla Magazine # Next up in the Fanzine journey is Cadla Magazine #4

This was a great Swedish zine run by Sverker "Widda" Widgren back in the 90's.
Sverker is nowadays perhaps more known for being the guitarist/vocalist in the highly underrated band - Diabolical. He also has a past in Centinex & Demonical, but also as a Studio techician/producer etc. for a lot of great bands.

Keeping the Zines in Sweden. One of, if not the Keeping the Zines in Sweden.

One of, if not the first zine, I ever bought was Expository Mag #2 back in like 92-93(?) and it also lit a fire in me as a teenager that someday I would also do something that other people read.

Here is Expository Mag #1 from back in 91-(92?) and the original issue did cost the whole amount of 5 SEK back in the day (about 50 cents in USD)

This is although not an original issue from back in the days. But it is still a xeroxed original from the man himself (Mattias) since I am a completist when it comes to things worth having. (This is one out of 64 issues ever made)

And with that said I do of course have the complete collection of issues 1 - 7, along with a T-shirt and some other stuff.

I do do not like to post more than once a day at m I do do not like to post more than once a day at maximum - but, I just found my "own unholy grail".

Since I started posting things on The Nagurufa Chronicles back in February this year something has been nagging me and that was my flyer collection from back in the day. It just didn't seem right, as in like a lot was missing.

Well, today I found the answer in two "plastic shopping bags" that I haven't really gone through in like over 20 years. In between old school report cards from 1992 and forward there was hundreds and hundreds of flyers mostly from my tape-trading days in the 90's. Also old distribution catalogues etc.

With that said, I won't have a shortage of stuff to share for quite a while at least when it comes to good old flyers.

But, here is a question for you all. I also did find four "band-photos" with photo-paper quality and instead of just trying to use the internet for an answer I would like to know if anyone knows what band it is?
PS: I put a toothpick in the picture for size.

I honestly do not know myself, but the fourth photo looks a lot like Helmuth from Belphegor?

EDIT: Answer seems to be Bestial Warlust. But where and why I got those pictures remain a mystery.

Let's stay in Sweden for another Zine. This time Let's stay in Sweden for another Zine.
This time a split-zine between Near Dark & Goetia from 1996.

Near Dark from Sundsvall is perhaps also more known for the label Near Dark Productions that had some great compilation releases followed by released with Sorhin, Blot Mine, Steel etc.

Farbror Fällström is still one of the pillars when it comes to organizing Metal in the North of Sweden with Club Deströyer & Nordfest in Sundsvall. Whom I am glad to call a friend since there is less and less people (well, at least us old people) who has this fire still burning within us.

As for the Goetia side of the fanzine - the content is killer and what I really love is the Demo review section with band-logos. Back in those days logos & thanks-lists was the shit when it came to look up new bands. Cool logo = tape-trading or try to contact the band. Thanks-lists = Try to find something at the local record store, otherwise - tape-trading.

I've had this in store for a while. It is from a r I've had this in store for a while. It is from a rehersal-space in Luleå/Sweden around 1999 I guess. I actually played guitar in a Black Metal band briefly back then, but that is not my guitar (?🤔).

I had a hand made black "piece of shit" that gave feedback as hell every time you let go of the strings. Worked great with Black Metal though. I traded that guitar for the Morbid Angel - "Blessed are the Sick" 7-inch boxset with a good friend.

Those boots I had back then we used to call "Mad Max boots". But doing a Google search nowadays seem to call them "Mad cross boots".

There is actually one (series) of compilations tha There is actually one (series) of compilations that I didn't post along with the series of compilations posted a month ago - "World Domination I-IV + Live" from @osmoseproductions

There reason for this was that I couldn't find the Promo-CD version of #2. But I finally managed to find them in a big stack of Promo CD's.

This was some really great compilations even though I didn't really find any new bands throught them. But great stuff from bands such as: Immortal, Marduk, Impaled Nazarene, Luciferion, Absu, Enslaved, Vital Remains, Angel Corpse, Bewitched, Swordmaster, Dark Tranquillity and so on...

I wasn't planning on doing a post today. But due t I wasn't planning on doing a post today. But due to a message I got, Forlorn Fest 2010 came to mind. Forlorn Fest was a fantastic thing run by two young local true pioneers that truly didn't give a shit about booking "for the masses". Sadly it ended with only 3 festivals, I visited them all and they were great. I hope I can find some pictures from all editions.

Here is although some pretty much never before published photos from the first edition in 2010 that had a great line-up.

I try to have it as a rule not to post about new s I try to have it as a rule not to post about new stuff - but if new stuff has such a strong 90's aura as AntiHuman Industries debut album "Accelerated Death Impulse" (2026) it has to be recognized.

Industrial Black Metal that bear a resemblance to everything I liked about Mysticum pre- and during their "In the Streams of Inferno"-era to keep it simple.

As for the members in AHI it is seasoned folks (& friends) with associations to bands such as The True Black, Horna, Archgoat, Sargeist, Korgonthurus to name a few.

This album will definitely be in my Top 10-list of 2026.

Score: 9 out of 10

Back to Sweden and Putrefaction Issue: 6 this time Back to Sweden and Putrefaction Issue: 6 this time. All the way back to 1991 based on the internet. All I know is that it is old and from a great time to be alive when it comes to being a teenager into Underground Metal.

I was 14 years back old in 1991 and had gone from Twisted Sister, W.A.S.P. to Metallica, Slayer to Entombed, Morbid Angel, Samael etc. by then. (1992 would although be when the flood gates to the world of Black Metal truly opened).

Putrefaction ´Zine was a cool fanzine for sure. The creator, Tomas Nyqvist, however etched his name into the history books a year later with his infamous label No Fashion Records.

NFR was from the start a label where you could buy an album pretty much "blindly" and know that you would get quality. Or at least between 1992-1999 with few errors. Shit happened, but I won't get into that old story. Google "bardo methodology + No Fashion Records" and you will get a much better story from the man himself.

Visiting Stockholm for a couple of days. 16 Horsep Visiting Stockholm for a couple of days. 16 Horsepower live tonight on the agenda. Enjoying some spare time while my better half is shopping.

This picture of Eucharist - "A Velvet Creation" turned up in my memories from some years back on Facebook today.

To me it has been the Epitome of Swedish Melodic Death Metal since 1993, despite some issues with the production. What's your opinion?

And if you do not agree on the title "Epitome of Swedish Melodic Death Metal", I am all ears for your nominations.
